Negative Doesn't Always Mean Bad

For instance, when I got the negatives from my shoot with my dad back from the lab a few days ago, it meant something extremely good. When I saw that they were all more or less properly exposed, I felt downright giddy. 

The astute among you will notice that the above images aren't negative. I sort of "scanned" them by putting a light behind them and taking pictures with my phone, then inverted the image into a positive. Seems thematically appropriate.
